Ken Handel
I am a very experienced writer and editor who has concentrated his work in higher education and cultural organizations (both non-profit and corporate). Three colleges are regular freelance clients, and I regularly receive assignments for articles from them for alumni publications, campus magazines, and web usage. Other freelance assignments have included creating a website for a grassroots non-profit dedicated to hunger alleviation, and the annual report for a well-known university.
In a freelance capacity, I have also edited doctoral dissertations for more than one dozen Ph.D. candidates and transcribed and enlivened meeting notes from college senate and faculty meetings.
In my staff positions, I have written editorial materials as well as marketing communications materials: print ads, direct mail, posters, point-of-purchase, transit, radio spots, brochures, sales letters, e-mail blasts, website copy, brochures, and catalogues. I have recruited freelance writers and edited them, as well as supervising staff writers and editors. I also have been responsible for managing the entire communications function: planning, budgeting, production, distribution, and evaluation.
